About Us...

The original founder of Physical & Respiratory Therapy Services, LLC, David Nachtigal, PT/RT, opened for business in 1975 in order to bring high quality care to rural areas. He assembled a team of highly qualified physical, occupational, and respiratory therapists as well as personal trainers.

 

Soon after in 1983, Dave started a respiratory company, Personal Care, Inc. As a respiratory therapist himself, he saw the need for oxygen services in this community.  As the awareness of sleep apnea grew over time, CPAP treatment crept its way to a front runner with the company.  He employed very talented medical staff that assisted with care and education in the respiratory field.

In 1987, Amy Nichols, Cosmetologist of Mane Street Salon, launched her career in the Nachtigal building. She was joined by Shirley Hansen, Nail Tech of Bling on the Nails in 2016.   In 2020, John Eicher, long-time Hiawatha resident and cosmetologist completed the dynamic team.  All are a joy to have in the building.  These professionals know their stuff and have such a friendly upbeat clientele.  Hair and nail care are such an important part of our health as well.

At the end of 2003, Tracy O'Brien LMT, LE, LPN, started her business as a Massage Therapist. She continued her education, later becoming an aesthetician and adding more specialized services. Tracy offers massage, customized facials, waxing, among other modalities at our Falls City location.

In 2004, Jill Meyer, Yoga Instructor, brought her experience and skills to our Falls City location. Jill offers Yoga as well as Senior Fit classes. 

​

Massage therapy has always been a staple in the building. In 2017 Dave received a call from a very knowledgeable massage therapist with an established practice of over 10 years in Missouri. She was looking to move to Hiawatha with her family.  What a wonderful addition Betty Dvorak, LMT has been!  She has a vast knowledge of modalities to heal your body and soul.

In 2018, Ashley Tuttle was welcomed to our team as an Oxygen Technician and Customer Service Representative. She assisted the Respiratory Therapists with patient care, in and out of the home. With a background in owning and operating her own business, as well as working in management positions in prior employment, Ashley became Medical Wellness Nachtigal's Office Manager in 2023.

In 2019 Advanced Dermatology joined the Hiawatha Medical Wellness Center.  There was a definite need dermatology in Hiawatha. Dr. Melody Stone and Sydney Armbruster, PA-C see dermatology patients at this location, offering big city quality with a small-town feel.  To make an appointment at the Hiawatha location, just call 816-364-1507 and make reference to where you wish to be seen.

Mental health is a large part of our well-being.  We believe in a holistic approach in treating our patients.  We welcome Courtney Wolvington of Solace Therapeutic Services to our group.  She is providing therapy services for youth, adults, and families.  She specializes in helping individuals find solace in order to resolve issues related to trauma, depression, and anxiety.  If you would like to schedule an appointment, please call 785-741-5105.

In 2024, Melanie Rieger, LMT, added her massage therapy services to the growing list of options available in our Falls City location. To schedule an appointment with her, please call 402-245-7848.

We also offer three elegant bedroom suites in our building that have kitchenettes, full baths, cable, Wi-Fi, and laundry facilities.  They accommodate many clients that need a place to stay when in town for business or events.  Please call Laurie Nachtigal, PTA at 785-547-5822 to ask about reservations.
